Have you ever wonder what is a floral competition?
Just want to talk about this past weekend.. It was AMAZING!
Floriology Institute, Bloomnet and Florida State Florist Association joined forces to bring us a wonderful educational 3 day weekend.
And together with that, it came the Designer of the Year 2018 Competition.
I have competed 2 times, and took second both - this year, I was fortunate enough to be the winner.
A competition can be organized by any floral institution, and at this specific one, we had 3 hours to complete 4 tasks:
A lobby piece for an architect business, a Mothers Day arrangement , a high boy table arrangement for the review of Pantone Color of the year and a cascading updated bridal bouquet.
It is not the best designer that wins - it is the best floral pieces created that gets evaluated by AIFD Evaluators.
A total of 10 very talented designers were competing.
Line, form, color, texture, and all the Principals and Elements of Floral Designer are a must to know.
If you ever decide to take the education path within our industry, reach out to me.
I am being inducted this year, and will continue to pursue my passion as an educator.
My best, always.
